Faith, family, and hard work. These are the priorities we value in Whatcom County.
I’m Kathy Kershner, and it was my privilege to serve as your voice on the county council from 2010 to 2014. Today, I’m running for the open seat on the Whatcom County Council, District 4, to represent the hardworking people who contribute to this very special place we call home.
Small towns like Sumas, Everson, Nooksack, and Lynden are often overlooked by the current council. In the past, certain councilmembers have scoffed at the needs of our rural and agriculture communities, supporting policies that imperil our family traditions and way of life.
It's time for a change. It’s time to elect a county councilmember from the heart of the county that honors your hard work and sacrifice and will listen to you.

My interest in public service began at a young age and led me to the US Navy, where I retired as a Commissioned Officer after 22 years. Subsequently, in 2003, I formed my own small business that serves those with developmental disabilities across the state by ensuring that they receive quality care. As consistently demonstrated throughout my life, my mission has always been to help the vulnerable, the overlooked, and the disenfranchised. To that end, I decided to run for office in 2010 and served as your voice on the county council until 2014. Today, it is you—the Mom’s and Dad’s willing to bet on a better future for their children—that motivated me to answer the call again.
With your help and generosity, I know we can win.
My goal is to raise $10,000 in the first 10 days of my campaign. This would give us the necessary advantage we need right out of the gate to take a lead over the opposition who are already busy planning their line of attacks. Click here to donate.
In addition to your financial generosity, victory at the ballot box requires your donation of time. We have ways you can involve yourself in this effort that include placing a campaign sign in your yard, joining my campaign steering committee, hosting a house party, or joining my team in a local parade. I am grateful for your support and excited for this great journey ahead.
